Solitaire, cluster or frame
- Solitaire studs: one stone per ear, the plainest outline and the simplest to wear daily.
- Cluster and floral studs: several smaller stones grouped into a flower, starburst or petal spray, giving a bigger face for the weight.
- Framed and bezel studs: a polished rim or a ring of small stones encircling the middle stone, sharpening its edge.
Reading total weight on studs
Total weight counts both earrings together: a 1 ct tw pair splits into about 0.5 carat a side. Pairs from 0.5 to 1 ct tw sit comfortably in daily wear. Some designs go up to 10 ct tw for a larger, red-carpet scale.
Solid gold ear studs and karat
14K gold stud earrings are the common choice, firm on the post and rich in color. 10K is harder and costs less. 18K has the deepest yellow and works well on studs, since they take fewer knocks than rings or bracelets.
Backs, cleaning and nighttime
Most lost studs slip away through a worn back, so test the grip on the post now and then. Studs can feel easy to sleep in, but taking them out at night keeps posts straight and the skin rested. Brush behind the stones with warm soapy water every few weeks.
Ring questions, answered.
How do I choose an engagement ring?
Start with the shape she loves, then the setting style. Our gemologists can help you balance carat, cut and budget on a free video call.
Can I build my own engagement ring?
Yes — pick a setting, then a diamond, and review the finished ring before it goes to the bench.
Does the diamond price include the setting?
Diamond and setting are priced separately in the ring builder, and the total is shown before you add the ring to your bag.
How do I find my ring size?
Use our ring size guide, or order a free ring sizer — it arrives in 2–3 days.
Can I return or resize my ring?
You can return it within 30 days (a 10% restocking fee applies to resized or engraved pieces), and your first resize within 60 days of delivery is free.
Should I insure my engagement ring?
We recommend it. Every ring ships fully insured; once it is yours, a separate jewelry insurance policy covers loss, theft and accidental damage.
