Rope, ribbon or crossover
- Rope and braid: tight, even twists with pavé along the strands.
- Ribbon and infinity: a looser turn, often one sparkling strand against one polished.
- Crossover: two strands that meet at the top, wider and more sculptural.
Carat weight and look
Every weight is ct tw, all stones counted. Most designs land near 0.15–0.5 ct tw. On a twisted gold band, lighter pavé leaves more polished metal between stones, and the spiral reads more clearly.
With an engagement ring
Paired with a twisted-shank engagement ring, the spiral continues across both rings; beside a plain solitaire it brings motion. Crossover designs sit wider, so try them against a low setting. One design is cut wider as a men's wedding band.
Cleaning the twist
The grooves between strands collect lotion and soap. Let the band sit in sudsy lukewarm water, then brush with the spiral, never across it, to clear each groove. Take it off for heavy chores, where raised strands and pavé meet the most knocks. Twisted designs add extra surface, so a yearly prong check with a jeweler pays off over time.
