A step-cut trapezoid sits tight against each side of a fancy green radiant-cut center, which is chosen in the next step. The broad end of each trapezoid meets the center and the narrow end faces the band, so the row tapers outward from the middle. Small corner prongs hold the side stones, a raised open head holds the center, and the yellow gold shank below is smooth and unset.
